Credito Bergamasco

Founded in Bergamo in 1891, over its 100 year-plus history the Bank has continually sought to consolidate its roots in the area it serves, supporting companies and families, and implementing an investment policy in the community aimed at promoting fundamental human values and supporting initiatives in the areas of art, culture, sport and free time, medicine and science, carving out a highly significant role for itself in the Italian banking sector in the process.
The most significant milestones in its recent history include the purchase of a 56% shareholding in the Bergamo-based bank by Crédit Lyonnais; the quotation of Credito Bergamasco shares on the Milan Stock Exchange in 1994; the conclusion of the agreement for the sale of the Crédit Lyonnais majority shareholding in the Bank to Banca Popolare di Verona – Banco S. Geminiano e S. Prospero in October 1997.
With 90% of its branches located in Lombardy, the Institute is now a key member of the Banco Popolare Group.
